Anonymous asked: aren't you worried that if you don't go to college you won't be able to support yourself when the time comes? I only say that because that's how I was made to feel. Recently I keep wishing I'd've been a little bolder and just pursued my art and not let people tell me I was never going to be successful if I did :(

I’m really not worried about that at all. You just have to live within your means—and I’m okay with settling for less. But, that doesn’t mean I’ll have to. I won’t have loans to pay off. As long as the necessities in life are taken care of, then I really don’t care about the rest. I don’t see life as a big failure without a college education. I feel like college is just a scam anyway. There’s too many people that have been extremely successful without a college diploma for me to even feel like it’s something really necessary. I’m all for learning, but I see no sense in spending that much time and money on something that I think would only slow me down. I mean, it’s the 21st century. I say make things happen for yourself. If you really want it, then go for it. Why wait four years for a piece of paper to tell you you’re a qualified artist. Art is so subjective that it doesn’t matter anyway—with or without college you’re still going to make the art you want to make. So why not do what you want to do right from the start, with nothing else in the way. That’s the way I see it—and sometimes I just don’t understand why people are so dependent on an education. Knowledge is right at your fingertips—it’s called life. Trial and error. Experience. What’s more exciting than that!

I’ve found enough validation for myself not going to college, and it just feels really great, honestly. I really hope that college treats you well, though.
